Introducing: STARK – Peter Ellegaard Track Team powered by SANA
Denmark’s first commercial track team makes history. Starting in January 2025, Denmark will have its first-ever professional track cycling team. This groundbreaking initiative provides a professional platform for both established stars and young talents aspiring to focus on track cycling. With a strong emphasis on talent development and gaining international competitive experience, the project aims to strengthen Danish track cycling and maintain Denmark’s position as a leading nation in the sport.
The team will feature both male and female riders, representing a dynamic mix of world-class track cyclists, some of the country’s most experienced profiles, and emerging stars of the future. The focus on talent development and clear career pathways is central, offering young riders the opportunity to grow in an environment that combines national and international competition with professional structures designed to foster individual progress.
Collaboration Across Danish Cycling
The team has been developed in close cooperation with the Danish Cycling Union (DCU), the national velodromes in Odense and Ballerup, and the national track team. While the team operates as an independent entity, it aims to enhance the national cycling ecosystem by participating in domestic events and simultaneously embarking on an extensive international race program.
This unique setup supports Danish track cycling across the country, aiming to expand the elite pool while cultivating future stars. By bridging national and international racing platforms, the project ensures that Denmark remains a dominant force in track cycling.
A Historic Boost for Danish Track Cycling
Never before has Denmark had a dedicated track team, let alone a commercial project operating at this level. The initiative paves the way for greater exposure of the sport while strengthening the high standards that Danish track cycling is already renowned for. This effort represents an investment in the future of both the riders and the sport as a whole.
Anders Fynbo, founder and team manager, highlights the significance of the project: „This team marks a completely new direction for Danish track cycling. We have the opportunity to set new standards in Denmark, provide young talents with clear career paths, and ensure the involvement of established riders in the sport. By combining experienced athletes, young talents, and a unique platform, we can elevate track cycling both nationally and internationally to a new level.“
With this initiative, Denmark has not only ensured support for current and future talents but also created a platform that reinforces the role of track cycling as a vital part of Danish cycling culture.
